“Navigating Emotions Heedfully,” revisits the spark and forest fire metaphor. Students use the emotions family visuals created in Chapter 4 Learning Experience 1 to analyze how the impact and experience of various emotions are dependent upon different factors, such as personal context. Through the learning experience, students come to recognize “universal red flag” emotions like hatred and loneliness while deepening their understanding of the role of heedfulness and personal emotional discernment in personal emotional responses.
