Competency-based Learning
Given the challenges of assessing SEE Learning® targeted competencies were developed to assist students and teachers with meaningful learning measures. SEE Learning competencies are called ‘SEE Learning Enduring Capabilities’. The SEE Learning Enduring capabilities are similar to higher-order learning outcomes, in that they specify what students should be able to do better as they progress through the program. However, they are distinguished from specific learning outcomes that are tied to age and grade level. This is because Enduring Capabilities are skills and types of knowledge that students can continue to return to, reflect upon, and more deeply embody throughout their educational experience and also throughout their entire lives.
Assessment Rubrics have been created and are currently undergoing field testing. If you would like to access these materials to participate in field testing please contact Emory staff at seelearning@emory.edu. Materials will be made public upon completion of testing.
